DAY 39 SECURITY IN THE ONE WE PRAISE

Psalms 91:1-4 

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.  I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!” For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper And from the deadly pestilence.  He will cover you with His pinions, And under His wings you may seek refuge; His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.

Gods word added to our prayer brings great power! Where do you seek shelter? Or in what do you seek shelter? Do you seek the companionship of another person? Do you find security in your husband, wife, children, grand children, mom, dad, grand parents? Maybe you have a great roof over your head? Or your dream car or truck? Insurance policy? What happens if any of those get taken away? What then? 

This Psalm is attributed to Moses and really shows his strength and resolve. This is the secret of his his courage and strength. Have you ever studied the life of Moses? He was an amazing man who walked an incredible journey with God. It seems that he was not afraid of anyone or anything. He stood up to and confronted the most powerful government on the planet, without an army behind him. He spoke with confidence, he set the agenda and told them when it would take place. He spoke with such authority you would think He had an army, the reality is that he had an invisible one. 

Every time he spoke what God told him, it became a decree. How did Moses humble the proudest ruler with the most amazingly trained army, part the Red Sea, while guiding 3 million Jews through the desert? Moses truly understood what it meant to live in the shelter of the Most High, and he lived there. Praying the promises of Gods word is powerful. 

If we will be determined to make God our soul refuge, we can stand strong through anything. Gods word is powerful, it tells us how to have a relationship with Jesus taking away the yolk of the devil. Because of what Jesus did on the cross, our old man, that is our sin nature is still nailed to the cross. We are a new creation in Christ, our lives change to look like Christ. 

It’s in the daily process of surrender that we grow and are grafted into the family of God and can hide ourselves under the protective shadow of the Almighty. He watches over us, protects us, bringing shelter and security. He will protect our families, our homes and our lives, all because of the blood of Jesus. We can cry out to Him and He will take care of the issue. 

The people and things I listed above are blessings if we have them, but are only temporary. Only God will be the consistent powerful shelter we can rely on. Let your heart cry to God be: "My refuge and my fortress, My God, in whom I trust!” 

Take confidence in the fact that if God is for us… who can be against us?
