As we have been praying, the 4th prayer point everyday is that we can be a Godly influence in our community.
This prayer needs to have action to it. Once again I went to bed with the news of a peace officers death, Deputy Micah Flick, several others were wounded. He was a 34 year old young man with a wife and twin 7 year old boys. We know that there is wickedness in our world, it’s evident everywhere around us.
When I say our prayers need action, I mean that we are activating our faith in reaching out to God, we are leaning in with ALL of our being.
There are times that all we can do is pray, but there are other times we realize that our prayers require more action, action that we can and must take.
James 2:14-17 Faith and Works
14 What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister is without clothing and in need of daily food,
16 and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that?
17 Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.
If we are asking that God helps us to influence in our community, then we must be proactive.
Christians are great at responding and supporting others when there is a loss or crisis.
But, what if, we actually acted before a crisis and loss?
1 John 4:7-12 God Is Love
7 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
8 The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
9 By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him.
10 In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.
There are MANY people around us that do not know God. They need the hope we have. Its a great start to pray for them, but, then speak to them.
What if we really acted on the two greatest commands in the Bible? To Love God and Love People?
These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.”
We are operating from victory! God had the plan from the beginning and Jesus brought that plan into fruition at the cross.
So I challenge you today to turn your prayers for your community into action.
Since you have already set apart Christ as Lord, Give a reason for the hope you have to others with gentleness and compassion!
Pray for Deputy Micah Flicks family and for our first responders! Pray for those who were wounded as well.
Finish the week strong!
As we continue to our 40 days of prayer remember these points:
1) Pray that we individually, grow in our relationship with God…
2) Pray for family and friends…
3) Pray for our church…
4) Pray that we can be a Godly influence in our community…
5) Pray for our nation…
God is in control.
I Prayed for you this morning!
Have a great day!
