Calvary Belmar is a fresh, growing church in Lakewood, CO.

When you boil it down, Calvary Belmar is about two things: Loving God, and loving each other. These are the two commandments that Jesus said sum up all of the rest of the Law and the Prophets (Matthew 22:35-40). When we love God and love each other, we abide in God’s love (John 15:10), and that’s a good place to be!

Because we love God, we have a deep respect and reverence for God’s word, the Bible. We believe that it is the most important book there is, and it contains the most important message the world has ever heard. We believe that it was not written by man’s invention, but by God, through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:19-21). We want to hear all that God has to say, so we teach through the whole Bible, chapter by chapter, verse by verse.

In response to the crazy, awesome, incredible love that God gives us, we offer Him our worship. Worship can take many forms: service, outreach, prayer, music, etc. At Calvary Belmar one of the ways we worship God together is through music. We love to sing of how good our God is, and proclaim His works (Psalm 30:4). All worship should be given to the Lord in spirit and truth (John 4:24), which means that we open our hearts (spirit) to praise God in a way in which we experience and exalt God emotionally as well as mentally, and that we worship Him in accordance with His Word, the Truth.

Because God loved us, we love Him, and we love each other. God has given us the ability through His Spirit to love each other with crazy, God-sized love. At Calvary Belmar, we believe that crazy love is the best spiritual gift we can have here on this earth (1 Corinthians 13), it is “the more excellent way” as Paul the apostle put it. We want to exercise that gift of love as often as we can. For this reason, we value community in a big way. We believe that Christians were not meant to be isolated or alone, but to live and love in community.

Calvary Belmar is a church born out of the Calvary Chapel movement.  Calvary Chapel is a non-denominational movement and affiliation of independent churches focused on simply teaching the Bible and worshipping God together, or “worship and the Word” as we like to call it.  For more information on Calvary Chapel visit or  We at Calvary Belmar identify closely and are affiliated with the Calvary Chapel movement.

We currently meet each week on Sunday morning at 1 Garrison St. in Lakewood, and on weeknights in small groups in Lakewood and Wheat Ridge, and have several other regular Bible studies for men & women, college & career and youth.  You can get directions to our Sunday service here.  Our desire is to impact our community in Lakewood and the entire front range of Colorado for Jesus Christ.  Come join us!
